Re: May 2 news story.

The Front Range cities of Fort Collins, Lafayette and Boulder express concerns regarding the safety of oil and gas field development in high density population areas. This development, including fracking technology, has been linked with diseases, . Two deaths by a severed gas line and explosion are added to the price of this energy development, in addition to a terrorized citizenry.

The mission of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) is “to protect and improve the health of Colorado’s people and the quality of its environment.”  Dr. Larry Wolk, the executive director and chief medical officer of the CDPHE, has repeatedly claimed the safety of oil and gas development in Colorado. I urge a reassessment of this stated position.
