The Colorado Mesa baseball team defeated Arkansas-Fort Smith 8-1 on Monday in San Angelo, Tex., to win the NCAA South Central Region championship and advance to the Division II World Series for the third time.
The Mavericks (48-10) will begin the eight-team, double-elimination World Series in Grand Prairie, Tex., against Quincy University (36-21) on Sunday.
Colorado Mesa went 4-0 at regionals, outscoring its opponents 26-5.
