The Denver Police Museum will unveil a memorial sign to honor one of the 72 officers who have been killed in the line of duty during the Denver Police Department’s 158-year history.

The Saturday morning ceremony will be in honor of Officer Thomas J. Durkin, a 27-year veteran of the police department who was killed in a hit-and-run on Jan. 5, 1929. He was the grandfather of retired Denver Police Chief Thomas Coogan.

Members of Durkin’s family have flown in from across the country.

The ceremony will be at 10 a.m. at the corner of Speer Boulevard and Broadway.
