Re: Aug 2 news story.

More than 60 years ago, I emigrated from Ireland to the United States. I was accepted by Americans who treated me with kindness and compassion. Now, under rules proposed by President Donald Trump, I would be ineligible to enter the United States. I had no money and no technical skills; however, I had a desire to work and make a better life for myself.

I have never been unemployed, arrested or received welfare benefits. I married a wonderful woman, raised a family and retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service and had a second career.

America has been good to me, and I tried to repay the benefits received. Now, President Trump implies I and people like me should not be allowed to immigrate to the U.S.
