Re: Aug. 16 news story.
We have all heard about the incident in which the owner of a Lakewood cake shop refused to design a cake for a gay wedding. Like many people, I was shocked that a business owner would want to refuse service to someone just because they were gay, and this seems like blatant discrimination that should not be tolerated. Why should a business have the right to deny service to someone just because they do not agree with the business owner’s beliefs or values?
Recently, the Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs canceled a conference that was booked by a white nationalist group. This action likely only made the news because of the recent, horrifying events in Charlottesville. Like many people, I do not think that supremacist groups should be tolerated, and I was glad to see that the resort took a stand. But isn’t this the same issue?
