Colorado health authorities on Saturday afternoon issued a Action Day Alert for the entire Front Range corridor from El Paso County north to Larimer and Weld counties for weather that promotes ground-level ozone and conditions considered unhealthy for people sensitive to them.

Light winds, plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures contributed to the alert, and smoke from wildfires in the northwestern United States and in Montana will increase fine particulates and add to poor visibility.

The alert remains in effect until 4 p.m. Sunday, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment announcement.

Active children and adults, and people with lung disease such as asthma, are urged to reduce prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion in these areas between noon and 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
