As a retired registered nurse and nursing instructor, I am appalled at the behavior of five individuals who somehow gained entry to the morgue at Denver Health to disrespect a deceased man, open the body bag and view his genitals. I am further horrified that the hospital chose to keep them on staff after “serious discipline.”

Nurses are taught to respect all individuals living or dead. This is a violation of the Florence Nightingale pledge taken upon graduation, as well as a HIPAA violation.

These individuals do not represent the nursing profession as I have known it, and I hope the public realizes this.
