After winning four of her last five fights, Rose Namajunas is getting a title shot.
The local 25-year-old mixed martial artist will face Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the world strawweight championship at UFC 217, the company announced Tuesday. The pay-per-view will take place Nov. 4 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Namajunas (6-3), who trains at 303 Training Center in Westminster, is ranked No. 3 in UFC’s women’s strawweight division. She is coming off a dominant win over Michelle Waterson in April.
Jedrzejcyzk (14-0) won the title in 2015 and has successfully defended her title five times since.
Namajunas isn’t the only fighter with a Colorado tie on the card. Second-ranked bantamweight TJ Dillashawm, who trains with the Denver-based Elevation Fight Team, will face champion Cody Garbrandt.
UFC 217 is headlined by middleweight champion Michael Bisping, who is defending his belt against MMA legend Georges St-Pierre, who is fighting his first bout in four years.
