The Denver Film Society on Tuesday announced early details and ticket on-sale dates for the 40th annual Denver Film Festival, which will return Nov. 1-12.
DFF40, as the Film Society is calling it, will present more than 200 titles among local, national and international independent films, industry panels, workshops, achievement awards and tributes, according to a press statement. This year’s event will also focus its international lens on Danish Cinema.
The full 12-day festival program will be announced on Monday, Oct. 9.
“Having one of the older and more established regional film festivals in the U.S. is more a testament to the amazing film loving community of Denver than it is to any one thing we’ve done as an organization,” said Britta Erickson, the festival director, in a press statement.
Organizers are no doubt hoping to build on the momentum of last year’s Denver Film Festival, which welcomed high-profile guests such as (both in town for a screening of “La La Land”) in addition to reporting for 250 films.
As with last year, East Colfax Avenue’s Sie FilmCenter will provide the home base for the festival while red carpet screenings will take place at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Other screenings will take place at venues such as the UA Denver Pavilions and Civic Center’s McNichols Building — the latter of which plans to also host panel discussions, virtual-reality offerings and more, plus a caf— and lounge.
Single tickets go on sale to Denver Film Society members on Tuesday, Oct. 10, and to the general public on Wednesday, Oct. 11. Tickets will be available for purchase online at or the DFF main box office location at the Sie (2510 E. Colfax Ave.).
