The death of a man found in Cherry Creek is being investigated as a homicide.
Officers were called Sunday to Cherry Creek North and Monroe Street and found a man in the creek who appeared to have been assaulted, Denver police said. The victim was taken to Denver Health medical center.
The man died Tuesday night at the hospital. The Denver coroner’s office identified the man Wednesday as 44-year-old Juan Mendez-Lopez.
Lopez died of blunt-force injuries, the coroner’s office said, and his death was ruled a homicide.
