The fast casual restaurant tide keeps rising in Denver.

 recently purchased a five-location franchise deal that will bring to the Denver metro market, according to a news release.

The healthy Mediterranean food chain got started with one location in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood in 2011. It has added three more stores in the city since, and this year inked a deal with franchise accelerator Fransmart, which previously worked with Five Guys Burgers & Fries and Qdoba Mexican Grill, to break into new markets. It .

“I’ve had my finger on the pulse of restaurants looking to expand into the Denver market through franchising for quite sometime, but had yet to find one I was passionate about until discovering Hummus & Pita, Co.,” Elmrini said in the release.

Locations and potential opening dates have not been announced.

Hummus & Pita Co. joins Jackson, Miss.-based Newk’s Eatery, and others as fast-casual brands that have recently staked out turf in  and around Denver. Fast causal dining has been a force for soaking up retail real estate in the Denver area of late, market watchers say.
