A man entered a secure area at an Xcel Energy substation and touched electrified equipment, sending him to the hospital Wednesday night.

The man did not work at Xcel, and no employees were injured, Xcel Energy spokeswoman Michelle Aguayo said. There were no outages, but a few homes may have noticed lights flickering.

The substation is just west of the South Platte River on West 13th Avenue.

Denver police did not have additional details on the incident, saying investigators are still trying to figure out what happened.
