Monday forecast: Rain and a little snow coming for Denver, while up to 10 inches of snow could fall in the mountains

The Denver area should see scattered rain showers Monday afternoon before snow starts falling late in the evening. The foothills and mountains are expected to get between 3 and 10 inches of snow is expected in the foothills and mountains by Tuesday morning, forecasters say.

Rain is expected to start falling mainly after 2 p.m. The rain will turn to snow at night, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

The chance of precipitation is about 40 percent. Snow accumulation of less than an inch is possible in Denver.

The high temperature will be around 49 degrees with wind gusts up to 33 mph in the Denver metro area.

Temperatures will rise to the mid-40s to the upper 50s from Tuesday through Thursday. Expect temperatures in the 40s Friday and Sunday with a low that will dip to 19 degrees early Saturday morning.

There’s another chance for snow on Saturday.
