None of the current Colorado Avalanche players are participating in the Winter Olympics, but one former member of the organization made history in PyeongChong.

Mirai Nagasu helped the U.S. win a bronze medal in the figure skating team event on Monday. Nagasu was an .

Nagasu, 24, became the just the third American woman to land a triple axel in competition — and the first to do so in the Olympics.

“Itap historical and something no one can take away from me,” Nagasu said to The Associated Press. “I wanted to make America proud.”

Nagasu — who’s in her second Olympic Games — has another chance to medal when she competes for the women’s singles title.

She’s not the only one with Avs ties at the Games. While the NHL chose to pass on allowing its current players to participate in the Olympics, a number of former players are playing for their countries in hockey, including Rene Bourque, Stefan Elliot, Cody Goloubef, Ryan Stoa, Karl Stollery and Wojtek Wolski.
