Red Gerard may have woken up late on race day after the night before, but the 17-year-old from Silverthorne proved his mettle.
On his final run in the snowboard slopestyle, Gerard tallied a score of 87.16, propelling him to the victory and giving the U.S. its first gold medal of the PyeongChang Olympics.
