SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — An impressive number of Rockies players, including all-star outfielder , came off the free-agent market this spring.

No, not that market. We’re talking about the market of love.

Blackmon, the famously bearded, 31-year-old National League batting champion, became engaged to his girlfriend, Ashley. So, technically, Blackmon is now a restricted free agent.

The same goes for shortstop , 25, who proposed to Mallie, his high school sweetheart from Texas. They haven’t set a date yet, but then again, they have been together for almost seven years, so what’s the rush?

Three Rockies pitchers got hitched on New Year’s Eve: Right-handed starter married Marissa; right-handed prospect Ryan Castellani married Christy; and right-handed prospect Shane Broyles said “I do” to Bridgette.

Two catchers tied the knot, too. married Katelyn, and married Lindsay.

Finally, utility infielder married Lauren, and outfielder/first baseman said “I do” to Emily.
