An Ohio physician who suffered serious injuries to his knee is seeking more than $300,000 in damages from the Texas man who crashed into him from behind at Keystone Ski Resort.
Dr. James Lutz of Cincinnati claims that Nathan Johnson of Ector, Texas, was recklessly skiing down the “Frenchman” at 1:50 p.m. on March 3, 2016, when he hit Lutz from behind, the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Denver says.
Lutz seeks compensatory damages “far in excess” of $300,000 and attorneys fees from Johnson.
“The sole proximate cause of the collision was the negligent manner in which defendant Johnson was skiing,” says the lawsuit filed by Ohio attorney John Phillips.
Because of the crash, Lutz suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament, torn medial and lateral meniscus and micro bone fractures.
He had multiple surgeries and underwent a series of 32 visits for physical therapy, the lawsuit says.
