Sam Masten, Rock Canyon
Sr., G, 6-foot-3 170 pounds, 22.5 points per game, 7.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists
In leading the Jaguars back to the Class 5A Final Four, the Northern Colorado commit’s certain intangibles — leadership, shot selection, basketball I.Q. et. al — were a primary factor in establishing Rock Canyon as a basketball power.
Daylen Kountz, Denver East
Sr., G, 6-4 180, 23.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.5 steals
Whether making it rain from downtown, spotting up from midrange or driving hard to the hole, 5A’s scoring leader was extremely difficult to contain. A Colorado pledge, Kountz also set a tone of intensity in practice that made the Angels around him better.
Ronnie DeGray III, Chaparral
Jr., F, 6-6 210, 21.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists
A force to be reckoned with in all aspects of the game, the still-uncommitted bruiser had his way in the paint during tough Continental League play and through the Wolverines’ Great 8 run. DeGray’s potential for his senior year is … scary.
Dayne Prim, Grandview
Jr., F, 6-5 165, 13.3 points, 7.6 rebounds
The summer before his sophomore season, Prim tweeted He made sure to prove that assertion true, as Prim was clutch throughout the playoffs, including a double-double (20 points, 15 rebounds) in the Wolves’ title game win.
Luke Johnson, Longmont
Sr., PG, 5-11 150, 19.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists
The unstoppable force behind the Trojans’ first state championship since 1942, Johnson consistently wowed with tough finishes at the rim while also sharpshooting from three and captaining the lethal Longmont transition game. He is drawing RMAC looks.
Coach Jeff Kloster, Longmont
In his 24th season as Longmont’s coach, Kloster hit a handful of milestones. and then the Trojans proceeded to run the table to the Northern League crown and then the 4A state title despite going against teams that towered over them.
