The metro area is expected to see temperatures in the 70s during the upcoming week, getting close to breaking record highs on two days.
After relatively cooler temperatures around 62 degrees Sunday and 56 degrees Monday, the metro area should warm up to a high of 72 degrees Tuesday, 77 degrees Wednesday and 75 degrees Thursday, National Weather Service meteorologist Russell Danielson said.
Wednesday’s and Thursday’s record highs are 80 degrees and 79 degrees, respectively.
Sunday should be breezy with wind gusts of up to 30 mph during the day and 25 mph at night, Danielson said. The overnight low should be 36 degrees.
The mountains went through a winter storm that dropped 5.5 inches up to close to 20 inches in some areas. It was a relatively warm system that started out with rain, he said. Once that turned over to snow, though, it really started to dump at higher elevations.
The NWS Twitter account cautioned that the heavy, wet snow created dangerous avalanche conditions Sunday.
