Victim Andrew Jenicek grew up in Littleton and was living in Lakewood when he was fatally shot. Edgewater police are searching for a vehicle described as a silver or white sedan, possibly a Mitsubishi Eclipse.

The Edgewater Police Department announced Sunday afternoon it has located the Mitsubishi Eclipse and suspects sought in connection with the fatal shooting of a 27-year-old man near Sloan’s Lake.

Andrew Jenicek was fatally shot at 8:40 p.m. Thursday at 2001 Sheridan Blvd. after getting out of his car and walking to pick up a dinner order at a local restaurant, according to an Edgewater Police Department news release.

“At this point, we feel we have the vehicle and the group of people that might have been responsible,” Edgewater Police Chief John Mackey said. “We have not identified the shooter.”

Police have contacted four people who are believed to be part of the shooting. He said police haven’t pinned down the exact number of people involved, although there was only one shooter. Several search warrants are currently being carried out. Arrest warrants have not been issued.

Police have not determined a motive yet, he said. He declined to say where the vehicle was located or give names of potential suspects.

Jenicek, who police described as an athlete, grew up in Littleton and graduated from D’Evelyn High School.
