A 23-year-old woman is suffering from life-threatening injuries Thursday morning after her vehicle flipped from Interstate 76 down onto York Street below, officials said.

The woman, who was the only person in the 1997 Chevy Sedan, has been taken to Denver Health medical center, said Colorado State Patrol Trooper Josh Lewis.

Troopers received the call at 6:30 a.m.

It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the crash.

Southbound York Street remained closed just before 8 a.m. with no estimated time of reopening.

“Everything else is open, but it’s slow moving in the area because of curiosity and everything else going on,” Lewis said.
