Denver and Aurora firefighters rescued a man who was injured when he fell into a vent in one of the upper floors of a resort hotel currently under construction on Wednesday, authorities say.

The accident happened at 6700 N. Gaylord Rockies Blvd., where the massive Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center is under construction.

Denver and Aurora fire departments responded to the emergency late Wednesday morning.

“He fell into the ventilation system and was trapped,” said Capt. Greg Pixley, Denver fire spokesman.

The victim had to to be extricated and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, Aurora Fire Rescue spokeswoman Lt. Lori Bishop said.

Pixley said the worker was not seriously injured.
