MIAMI — First came an injury to left-hander Tyler Anderson. Shortly thereafter, all-star second baseman DJ LeMahieu departed the game with right hamstring tightness.
All in all, it was not a good Friday night for the Rockies at Marlins Park.
Anderson was removed in the second inning with apparent discomfort in his chest area. LeMahieu apparently tweaked his hamstring in the third inning. He hustled out a double but was then picked off second base. LeMahieu played defense in the bottom half of the third inning but did not return for the fourth.
Anderson pitched a one-two-three first inning, but appeared to be in discomfort while pitching to Brian Anderson in the second inning. That prompted assistant trainer Scott Gehret and manager Bud Black to come to the mound to check on Anderson. He stayed in the game to face Justin Bour, who singled, and then faced Cameron Maybin.
At that point, first baseman Ian Desmond gestured to the Rockies bench and Gehret and Black came back out to the mound. After a brief consultation, Anderson left the game and was replaced by right-hander Antonio Senzatela.
Anderson entered the game with a 1-0 record and a 4.32 ERA.
