GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. — People at a mountain-top theme park in western Colorado had to be evacuated by a wildfire that was quickly stopped by fire crews.

The fire started Monday evening along a hiking trail below the near Glenwood Springs.

Park manager Nancy Heard  the Glenwood Springs Post Independent that an unspecified number people at the park were evacuated by tram in 35 minutes. She says the park has an evacuation procedure thatap been in place for a decade and just held a fire drill last week.

Helicopters were able to drop water on the fire within about a half hour of it being spotted, keeping it to about 3 acres.

Garfield County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Walt Stowe says it was fortunate that there was no wind at the time.
