Nothing says the Fourth of July like barbecues, fireworks and Joey Chestnut winning the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.

In one of the most disgustingly incredible feats in sports, the 34-year-old Chestnut will be going for an unreal 11th title in 12 years at the annual Coney Island consumption competition. In 2017, he set a world record by eating 72 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes.

According to Nathan’s website, each hot dog is 280 calories, so that comes out to 20,160 calories in one sitting.

Can anyone beat him? Chestnut was upset in 2015 when fellow San Jose-native Matt Stonie took his crown. But a mark of a true champion comes from his competitive spirit. Chestnut came back the next year and hit 70-dog mark. Another name to keep an eye on is 24-year-old Carmen Cincotti, who gobbled down 60 hot dogs last year to finish second.

But if you’re to believe the oddsmakers, it’s Chestnut’s to lose. Bovada las him at a 2-to-11 favorite.

“I feel like I can do it. I’ve been hitting 75 plus in practice,” . “The (hot) weather, shouldn’t hurt me. As long as the hot dogs are cooked nice and well-done … (a new) world record is in my sights.”

The women’s competition begins at 9 a.m. on ESPN3, and the men’s at 10:30 a.m. on ESPN2.
