An overturned tanker truck in Commerce City has created a hazardous materials spill that Denver Fire Department is responding to Tuesday afternoon.

The man driving the truck suffered a minor injury from the rollover crash at East 50th Avenue and Forest Street, said Denver Fire spokesman Greg Pixley.

The truck is leaking diesel fuel and liquid aluminum sulfate.

“We just know the aluminum sulfate could be a corrosive material,” Pixley said. “It’s 8 percent concentrate. We’re still trying to evaluate exactly what the significance of it is.”

The crash was reported to Denver Fire shortly after 11 a.m.

Officials said to expect traffic delays in the area.
