

It’s been seven years since the Buffs bolted the Big 12 for the Conference of Champions, and one can’t help but wonder if there’s a bit of buyer’s remorse emanating from Boulder.
It isn’t that Colorado football has submitted only one winning season sincemaking the move to the Pac-12 back in 2011. Or that a once-proud program just finished a 10-year stretch in which it participated in a bowl game just once. Or even that yet another Buffs’ coach before Ralphie has run a lap around Folsom Field.
It’s that the conference Colorado joined currently finds itself in tatters.
Starting with the Pac-12 getting left out of the College Football Playoff for the second time in four years on Dec. 3, the conference has endured one humiliation after another during the past eight months. There’s , bizarre , a , a and at least one national writerspeculating that the .
Now, withPac-12 football media day set to hit, commissioner Larry Scott and the rest of the Pac can’t turn the page fast enough on the offseason. There will be talk of growing revenues, unmatched parity and one campus more beautiful than the next. But back in Boulder, surely one or two Buffs fans will be thinking, “Man, I miss Lubbock.”
