Fellow officers celebrate Cory Sack’s release from Swedish Medical Center

An officer who was shot in August while responding to a Cherry Hills Village home invasion will be released from Swedish Medical Center Thursday morning, authorities say.

Cherry Hills Village police will at the hospital at 10:30 a.m. to celebrate Cory Sack’s hospital release and to support him while he recuperates, according to a police department news release. Sack was shot once in each leg.

“The Cherry Hills Village Police Department is grateful for the outstanding care that Officer Sack received from the entire medical staff at Swedish Medical Center,” the news release says.

At least one suspect shot Sack during an exchange of gunfire on Aug. 20 after he responded to a home invasion robbery near Sedgwick Drive and Hampden Avenue.

Authorities are searching for four suspects in connection with the robbery and shooting.

Itap not clear whether Sack, who returned fire, struck any of the suspects.
