A Cherry Hills Village police officer who was shot in an exchange of gunfire by at least one of four suspects in a home invasion robbery is “on his way to recovery,” authorities say.

Cory Sack was shot twice, once in each leg, following a late Monday emergency call from a home near Sedgwick Drive and Hampden Avenue.
“Officer Sack is on his way to recovery and we are grateful for all thoughts, prayers and amazing support,” according to a Cherry Hills Police Department tweet.
Authorities are searching for four suspects in the home-invasion robbery in Cherry Hills Village.
Police received a 911 call at 10:50 p.m. Monday from an address on Sedgwick Drive, but the caller did not speak before the phone was disconnected. Sack and other police officers responded to the call and found the front door open.
When Sack entered the home, at least one of the suspects opened fire. Sack returned fire. It’s not clear whether any of the suspects were struck by gunfire.
Police recovered a stolen vehicle nearby that Tovrea says is being treated as part of the investigation.
Sack has been a police officer in Cherry Hills Village for seven years. Before that he was a deputy at the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office.
