Today’s high temperature will dance near record-breaking territory again. The mercury should top off near 93 degrees, just one degree shy of the record high of 94 degrees set on Sept. 17, 1991.
Light winds will roll in from the southeast in the afternoon and by evening bring clouds with it. The low temperature will dip to the low 60s, according to the National Weather Service.
Another record is likely to be set tomorrow with a 91 degree-projected high, right on mark for the 91 degree record set in 1998.
Things will cool off on Wednesday, relatively speaking. A high of 85 degrees and a slight chance of afternoon showers will give Denver its first break from a week of record-setting heat.
Continued very warm and mainly dry. Slight chance of a late day shower over higher terrain. Elevated fire danger remains in place.

Last week, Denver broke or tied heat records five out of six days. The heat streak and low humidity has kept fire danger elevated, according to the National Weather Service.
The decent in temperatures will continue through Thursday and Friday. Thursday will be sunny with a high of 79 and Friday will have a high of 76.
The weekend temperature will stay in the mid-to-high 70s. Also expected for the weekend, a continued explosion of fall colors. Check out the Denver Post’s guide on turn from green to red, yellow and gold.
