A final look at the Broncos’ 34-16 loss to the on Sunday, after watching the film:

1. Protecting quarterback became an issue on the game’s first play. Keenum had to dump a throw off to running back for seven yards when left guard allowed a pressure.

2. In addition to the four sacks, we booked the Broncos allowing with nine quarterback pressures and three hits. The sack responsibility was a mixed bag. Although his blockers were beat, Keenum was sacked in 4.22 and 4.45 seconds, which suggests he needs to be more decisive throwing the football or scrambling. Three of the Jets sacks were split between two players, not a good sign because it meant the Broncos were losing multiple one-on-one matchups.

3. The Broncos rushed five or more players on nine of quarterback ’s 23 drop-backs (39.1 percent). Their only sack was split between defensive linemen and . The Broncos have five sacks in the past four games.

4. Jets coach Todd Bowles called the defensive plays because coordinator Kacy Rodgers (illness) was out. New York rushed five or more players on 16 of Keenum’s 57 drop-backs (28.1 percent). He rushed six players on five drop-backs. We liked how Bowles aligned Leonard Williams at end and stunted him inside unblocked for a sack.

5. We booked the Broncos for six missed tackles (Peko, linebackers and , safeties and and cornerback Issac Yiadom). But not in that total were the many times defenders took terrible angles and didn’t even get a hand on the rusher or receiver. On Isaiah Crowell’s 77-yard touchdown run, Stewart and cornerbacks and all took poor routes and couldn’t even attempt a tackle.

6. Robby Anderson’s 76-yard touchdown catch, which gave the Jets the lead for good, was too easy. It came on third-and-9 and the Jets used a seven-man protection to block five Broncos. Anderson ran by Roby without being touched and caught Darnold’s throw in-stride at the Broncos 40.

7. Every game has some bad calls, but one that stood out was receiver ’s pass interference penalty, which negated his 47-yard catch. Sutton powered through his route and made contact with the defender but did not really push him. No penalty and the Broncos are at the Jets 23 looking to cut a 14-point deficit. The penalty pushed the Broncos into a third-and-15 and eventual punt.

8. Might the Broncos consider a change at right guard? had eight negative plays against Baltimore and 5 1/2 negative plays against the Jets. ’s experience is only at left guard, but it may be worth a look against the Rams’ stout defensive line on Sunday.

9. Eight of the Broncos’ 17 rushing attempts were “bad runs” (three or fewer yards not counting short-yardage). An issue was unblocked players, who accounted for four bad rushes.

10. And the special teams weren’t immune either. Punter Colby Wadman’s best attempt traveled 57 yards on 4.57 seconds of hang time. posted a 51-yard return and five Broncos missed tackles: , , , Keishawn Bierra and Wadman.
