
After throwing a touchdown and catching another one in the same game, Broncos wide receiver was recognized by the NFL on Wednesday as the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.
Sanders had six catches for 102 yards against the Cardinals last Thursday, but his biggest highlight was a 28-yard touchdown pass to . It was the first time a Denver player threw and caught touchdowns in the same game since did it in 1986. Running backs Donnie Stone (vs. Dallas in 1961) and Floyd Little (vs. Oakland in 1972) also accomplished the feat.
Sanders is the seventh Broncos receiver to earn the award.
He also isn’t the only Denver pro athlete to earn accolades this week. Avalanche captain Gabe Landeskog was the NHL’s first star for the week, and Nuggets center Nikola Jokic was the Western Conference Player of the Week.
