The two victims of a fatal plane crash outside Broomfield were both men from Erie, officials announced on Monday.

John Campbell, 58, and Tobias Campbell, 20, of Erie died Friday when the home-built, single-engine plane they were flying crashed into a open area of Anthem Ranch, according to a news release from the Adams and Broomfield county coroner.

The cause and manner of their deaths are still under investigation, according to the release.

The plane crashed just before noon about a half mile south of Erie Municipal Airport, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.

The board and the Federal Aviation Administration continue to investigate the crash.
