Michael Bennet, Colorado’s senior U.S. senator, is going to Iowa on Feb. 22 — his first trip there since his national profile has risen amid a possible presidential bid.

Bennet, a Denver Democrat, will spend two days in Iowa, home of the nation’s first presidential caucus, according to a spokesperson. More details are expected next week, but the trip will include multiple stops.

Bennet has not made a final decision whether he’ll run for the party’s nomination, but the trip adds to a growing body of evidence that he’s thinking seriously about it.

Bennet, who got national press last month for lambasting Sen. Ted Cruz on the Senate floor over the federal government shutdown, said last week on “Meet The Press” that he thinks one more candidate couldn’t “hurt.”

“I’ve got a different set of experiences than the other folks in the race, many of whom are my friends and people that I like,” Bennet said.

Former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, who’s also among the dozens of Democrats who are considering or have announced a bid, will also be in Iowa late next week.
