NASCAR is back at the Daytona 500 this week and racing fans around Colorado are missing Martin Truex Jr., the driver for the former Colorado-based Furniture Row Racing.
After FRR announced it was closing up shop at the end of 2018, Truex made the move over to Joe Gibbs Racing for the 2019 season. It will be a seamless move for Truex as he is keeping the same crew chief during his transition.
Even though Truex isn’t based out west doesn’t mean he can’t be “our” guy to cheer for. He spend five season racing for FRR and gained a huge following in Colorado.
So when the drivers start their engines this weekend for the Daytona 500, keep Truex in mind as many still consider him a fan favorite.
Fans might have to buy some new gear though as Truex is switching his number from 78 to 19.
The Daytona 500 is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon and can be viewed on KDVR-31.
