A police officer was inside a patrol car when someone crashed into the vehicle, injuring the officer who was at a traffic stop on the northbound Interstate 25 off-ramp to 104th Avenue at the time, authorities say.
The off-ramp has been reopened after it was temporarily closed while the Colorado State Patrol investigated the cause of the crash, according to a Thornton Police Department tweet.
The officer was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening, the tweet says.
Reference officer/vehicle who was involved in being struck during traffic stop. Officer transported to local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Investigation continues. Expect traffic delays.
