NBA star “Birdman” Chris Andersen was spotted at Denver’s , this week.
Uchi owner and executive chef Tyson Cole on Wednesday posted a photo on Instagram of him posing with Andersen inside the restaurant on Lawrence Street.
“The Birdman came in for some sushi!!” Cole wrote. “He’s (a) very nice guy. And gigantic! His fav was madai!”
Cole’s excitement reflected Andersen’s popularity in Denver, where he was a fan favorite during his career here from 2001 to 2004 and again from 2008 to 2012.
Andersen’s career has since taken him to Miami, Memphis and most recently the Cleveland Cavaliers.
But he has moved back to the Denver area, where he’s apparently enjoying the local madai, or Japanese sea bream.
Back in October, James Beard Awarded Cole opened his first Uchi outpost outside of Texas to much fanfare in Denver’s River North.
