A man tried to rob a home while a real estate agent was showing it during an open house in Commerce City, police said Sunday.
The real estate agent told police she was showing the house at about 11:30 a.m. in the 14700 block of 104th Avenue when someone came into the residence and tried to rob it, Commerce City Police Department Commander Rob McCoy said.
A white male in his late 20s or early 30s threatened the woman with a knife and ordered her to give him some of her belongings, according to a news release from the Commerce City Police Department. The real estate agent then retrieved a handgun and fired a round at the suspect, but it was unknown if he was struck.
The suspect fled the scene, McCoy said.
The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, the release added.
Police have not yet made any arrests and detectives are trying to develop some leads, McCoy said.
