Vic Fangio almost had an amazing, memorable home debut with the Broncos. Almost.
Coming back from a 13-3 deficit, Denver took the lead with less than a minute to go after Joe Flacco connected with Emmanuel Sanders — first for a touchdown and then for a two-point conversion to take the lead. But then a 53-yard field goal by Chicago’s Eddy Pineiro crushed the Mile High crowd’s euphoria.
Here’s what you may have missed from the game:
- Analysis: Broncos defense can’t close out the game after Vic Fangio’s aggressive call.
- Kiszla: Pain of the Broncos’ football-gods-must-hate-us loss to Chicago will eat team alive.
- Garett Bolles’ confidence not shaken after penalty-filled loss to Bears: “I’m going to turn this around.” (Here’s how folks reacted to the penalties on Twitter.)
- Emmanuel Sanders: Broncos suffering from “lack of discipline right now.”
- Broncos Status Report: Time to sound the alarm in Denver?
- Broncos Talking Points: Crazy finish allows Chicago to win.
- Broncos up-down drill: Best and worst performances against the Bears.
- Broncos Briefs: Two games in, defense still looking for first sack, takeaway.

The Mountain West had a moment in the sun — including Air Force’s win over CU — then reality set in
On Saturday, though, victories came to five alleged underlings. They did not come to Georgia Southern, which parlayed two wacko touchdowns into a late lead over Minnesota, or to Furman, which led 14-3 at Virginia Tech at halftime, which must have jazzed up conversations at concessions. Read more…
