Basalt handed Paonia a loss in a 20-0 showdown on Friday.
Matty Gillis led Basalt’s aerial attack with 113 yards through the air, throwing one touchdown without an interception. Gillis also added one rushing touchdown. Jackson Rappaport lead all Basalt receivers with five receptions for 55 yards and one score.
Basalt’s rushing game was spearheaded by Cole Dombrowski who tallied 24 yards and one touchdown in the contest, averaging 4 yards per carry.
Logan Green spearheaded the Paonia ground game by running for 27 yards in the game.
Basalt will play host to Moffat County, while Paonia will travel to play Hotchkiss.
