Steamboat Springs couldn’t quite keep up with a potent Hotchkiss squad, losing by a score of 41-6 on Friday, Sept. 27.
Yahir Chavez led Hotchkiss’ passing attack with 60 yards through the air. Chavez also added 50 yards and one touchdown on the ground. Hotchkiss’ leading receiver was Jacob Palecki, who caught one pass for 34 yards.
Jace Peebles paced the Hotchkiss ground attack by running for 176 yards and two touchdowns in the contest, averaging 6.1 yards per carry. Traycer Hall added 63 yards and one touchdown on the ground, averaging 12.6 yards per carry.
Finn Russell lead the Steamboat Springs rushing attack by accumulating 53 yards in the contest, averaging 4.4 yards per carry.
Both teams will stay at home in their next contest, with Hotchkiss hosting Paonia and Steamboat Springs taking on Palisade.
