Hotchkiss managed to prevail in a low-scoring game against Paonia, 12-7 on Friday, Oct. 4.
Jace Peebles paced all Hotchkiss rushers with 166 yards and two touchdowns in the game, averaging 5.7 yards per carry.
Paonia quarterback Grey Neal led the passing attack with 76 yards through the air, throwing one touchdown with no interceptions. Neal also added 59 yards on the ground. Paonia’s leading receiver was Dom Felice, who caught two passes for 55 yards and one score.
Paonia’s ground game was spearheaded by Anthony Miller who racked up 70 yards in the contest. Logan Green contributed 57 yards .
Both teams will go on the road in their next contest, with Hotchkiss heading to play Grand Valley and Paonia taking on Olathe.
