Lakewood police on Friday identified the 47-year-old man shot and killed Thursday night after he barricaded himself in a home then started a fire and destroyed property.
Jason Elliot Waterhouse was killed around 5:30 p.m. in the 2400 block of Youngfield Street, John Romero, a police spokesman, said.
Police were called to the address on reports of criminal mischief. Waterhouse refused to come out or communicate with officers, police said, and smoke began streaming out of the home. After officers entered, they found Waterhouse armed and shot were fired, according to police.
Waterhouse was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
