Gov. Jared Polis appointed Robert Samuel Willett, of Alamosa, as district attorney Friday for Colorado’s 12th Judicial District, spokesperson Conor Cahill said in a release.
Willett will replace the Crista Newmyer-Olsen, whom Polis recently appointed as a judge for the 12th District, the release said.
Willett will assume his new position Jan. 1. He has been a senior deputy district attorney since March, the release said. He has worked as deputy district attorney in the 12th and 4th districts.
Willitt earned his bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State College of Denver and graduated law school from Appalachian State, the release said.
The 12th District covers Saguache, Alamosa, Rio Grande, Conejos, Mineral and Costilla counties.
