The Monte Vista Pirates beat the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers by a score of 80-67 on Friday, Jan. 31.

Monte Vista was paced in scoring by Tyrese Otero who put up 20 points while also collecting eight rebounds and four assists. Lupe Cervantes and Andres Maestas also had notable performances contributing 18 points and 13 points, respectively.

Montezuma-Cortez was lead in scoring by Teagan Whiteskunk who scored 20 points while collecting five rebounds. Adrian Mark helped by contributing 16 points, two rebounds, and two assists.

Both teams will stay at home in their next contest, with Monte Vista hosting Alamosa and Montezuma-Cortez taking on Pagosa Springs.
