Peyton Manning could become the next retired NFL quarterback to cash in as a highly paid sports analyst, with ESPN setting its sights set on The Sheriff, according to a report.

Michael McCarthy of that Manning has been offered between $18 million and $20 million per season to become the next analyst for ESPN and Monday Night Football.

Andrew Marchand of the New York Post reported that to man the Monday night booth. Marchand said the sports network is also interested in former Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers, but the 38-year-old has already stated his intention to continue playing.

The Manning news follows the record-setting contract signed by Tony Romo after he decided to stay with CBS as their top NFL analyst. Romo’s new deal has been reported to be worth $17 million a season.

If Manning does get the Brink’s truck to back up to his Colorado home, he would break Romo’s record extension with CBS. And he might actually make Monday Night Football watchable again.
