For the third straight week, an Avalanche player is recognized by the league.

Colorado captain Gabe Landeskog on Monday was named the NHL’s second star of the week. Goaltender Pavel Francouz received first and third star honors the last two weeks.

Landeskog, 27, recorded an NHL-best nine points (three goals and six assists) last week, leading the Avs to a 2-1-1 record. Colorado is two points out of first place in the Western Conference, behind Central Division rival St. Louis.

On the year, Landeskog is fourth on the Avs with 42 points (21 goals, 21 assists) in 52 games.

New York center Mika Zibanejad was named first star and Oilers center Leon Draisaitl was this week’s third star.
