Denver weather: Warm and breezy start to winter season

The shortest day of the year will be a warm one

As of Monday, it is officially winter.

The coldest season kicks off with unseasonably warm temperatures. According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, the high for the day is 57 degrees downtown, with wind gusting up to 15 mph from the southwest.

Skies will stay clear all day and into the evening, allowing for a good look at a to each other. The best time to get a look at it will be right after sunset. The low will drop down to 29 degrees, with winds dying down.

Winds will pick up to gust at over 20 mph on Tuesday and bring even warmer temperatures as the high is expected at 60 degrees.

The mostly sunny day will turn into a possibly snowy night as there is a 20% chance of flurries. Temperatures will drop to 20 degrees overnight and stay cool through Wednesday when the high is only set for 31 degrees.

The sun that takes back over the sky Wednesday will remain through the weekend, meaning itap unlikely that there will be a white Christmas in Denver this year.
