The residents of a Jefferson County condo complex were under a shelter-in-place order for more than an hour Saturday while sheriff’s deputies searched for a shooting suspect they eventually located and took into custody.

The condo complex is located in the 7700 block of West Glasgow Place, about two miles north of Chatfield State Park. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office first took to Twitter about the incident at roughly 2 p.m. People were asked to avoid the area where there is a heavy police presence.

By 3:43 p.m., deputies had taken a man into custody in the shooting, according to the department’s Twitter account. The shelter-in-place order was lifted.

One man was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound in the incident.

The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the shooting.
