Denver hasn’t had snow in a while, so maybe some have forgotten how to drive in winter conditions. Officials say to take it slow and plan for your drive to take a bit longer and to watch for plows.

Two rollover crashes before 7 a.m. are slowing things around the metro area. One on northbound E-470 north of Interstate 70 near the airport. The other is out on I-70 near Bennett.
A truck rolled over on the C-470 westbound ramp to Santa Fe. The fuel tanker was carrying 4,000 gallons of diesel and spilled. South Metro Fire Rescue is on the scene, reporting very icy conditions. Officials expect a five-plus hour closure.
Another wreck on C-470 was reported around 7:30 a.m. near Wadsworth.
C-470 Tweeted around 8:30 that multiple crashes on the road are causing backups from Jewell northward and from Peña on southbound.
Colorado Highway 470 near Lakewood going east was closed near Alameda for some time before reopening this morning.
I-70 has a slowdown going wet from Wadsworth on, due to a crash at Kipling.
Folks around the metro area are reporting wet, slick and sometimes even icy conditions.
Most mountain roads have chain laws active so make sure to prepare if you’re headed into the hills.
For some, this may be the first accumulating snow of the season. ❄️ ❄️ ❄️

Wheat Ridge and Parker went on Accident Alert before 8 a.m. Douglas and Arapahoe counties and Aurora, Commerce City and northeast Denver also went on accident alert after 8 a.m.
Peña Boulevard headed out to the airport is on accident alert.
